just a note to encourage you to send photos and recipes to me. the photos should be in .jpeg form if possible. recipes doesn't matter as i have to retype them anyway. Word is easiest! even if you are not able to come to the event, this is a way for you to be part of the festivities. the books are extremely classy and excellent quality. they will be available in softcover or hardcover, both will have the group photos on the covers. They will range from $26 - $38 before shipping and tax. They will be approximately 80 pages. if they add any volume discount i will pass it on to everyone, of course. this is not a money making event, it is a treasure to commemorate our 60th birthdays! i am looking for recent photos of your families and especially old photos of us during our early years. i will have sample books at the event so you can see how great they are. please send stuff as you find them. and you can bring them to the event if you haven't found them until then. have fun going thru your photos! and remember the recipes just need to be your faves not Joy of Cooking! Hi Girls-

As several of you know, i have recently suffered a severe technological glitch (albeit self-inflicted) and am trying to get everything back "as was." If you note anyone on the above list I have omitted, please feel free to let me know and I will get them added.

Plans are speeding along for our Birthday Bash in August. We are looking forward to a wonderful time. PLease be sure and check the FB page and Blog for the wonderful plans Claire Foy and Sandy Siegfried have made for us for our special weekend. All checks for Saturday evening and the head count for Friday go to Sandy, per her address she has given in that info. I thought it might also be a good idea to give Sandy and Claire an idea of what you would like to do as far as the activities they have suggested so we will have an approximate idea of the #.

IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY, PLEASE SEND A COUPLE OF RECIPES TO VALJEAN VIA EMAIL PLUS ANY OLD PERSONAL PHOTOS YOU MIGHT HAVE!!! I personally took her at her word and sent family favorites, and believe me, after raising two sons there was nothing fancy involved! Val has a darling idea for the cookbook going, and this is a perfect way to be part of the activity if you are unable to attend. I am very excited about her idea for the back cover of the cookbook and will be shopping for my sun hat soon (which I need anyway)! Check out Gail Brewster's FB page for what Val has in mind--it's a beautiful picture of Gail and the women in her family enjoying their summer get-together in Maine. I believe Gail or Val was going to post this on our FB page and may have already done so. JUST REMEMBER-if you don't send old photos of your own, you are at our mercy and who knows what we will pick. If I can send pictures of myself around a campfire (even the word now makes me shudder) with no make up and straight hair (no flip), surely everyone can come up with something!

To me, that is the beauty of this get-together. So many people have chipped in and become part of it in so many ways, it is truly OUR activity. No one cares anymore about all the old junk--we are just looking forward to being together and rejoicing in our shared history of growing up and our maturity! Kim Carter Witt said to me many years ago, we were blessed to grow up in a wonderful time together, and I truly believe that. Please chip in and get that info to Val (I honestly thought about sending my recipe for dog water because our dogs only drink what I put in their bowls-no one else) so don't feel like you need to send anything fancy! For those of you who want to know--fill one Walmart Red Plastic pitcher with cold water and pour in 2 ceramic bowls placed on a monogramed LL Bean waterhog dog mat. My recipes weren't much fancier.

We are going to have a great time in August and create more special memories. Please join us for a great time and make it special with your participation!
